I noticed lately that there are BIOS updates for the root model of ES1-572 and I thought to update it after seeing the tag 'improve system performance' but I held off. I am aware some laptops do come with BIOS backups in the event an upgrade has trouble. The first bit of what I want to know is, do acer laptops, like this one, have such a backup feature to prevent themselves from becoming bricked?
I need an sd card update for my acer v200 travel companion. Posted by andrewagger on May 17, 2011. I even updated the BIOS, updated Vista service packs and all patches. Sent email to Acer, but of course they want $60 per 1/2 hour. And from the past experience it will take about 2 hours on the phone. Acer P630 co-pilot navigation system. Downloads Free! 13 Drivers, Manual and BIOS for Acer Aspire T630 Desktops & Worstation. Here's where you can download Free! The newest software for your Aspire T630.
The second bit fo this is, what does the update do to improve performance? It has no change logs or any detail other than 'improve system performance'. Upon downloading I was met with an app that just said click to install. I aware this can cause issues if done outside of DOS and wonder what measures ACER prefers for their upgrades (No AV W10, DOS, STandard run, etc.)
I want to be safe rather than sorry.
Also, people tend to say that you should not update unless you have an issue, well, event viewer stated that the processor was being limited and/or capped by the firmware, hindering performance a bit (a lot in some cases). I can take the sluggishness if it means I have a working laptop.
